Switching Your Utilities

Congratulations! You are a new home owner!

Here is your checklist to make sure the move goes smoothly.


HOMEOWNER’S INSURANCE

For Our Home Sellers
(Week before the move)

  • Contact your insurance agent and cancel your homeowner’s policy for the day of closing 
  • If you are staying in your ‘sold’ home for a short time, replace your homeowner’s policy with a renter’s insurance policy (since you no longer own the property). 

For Our Home Buyers
(Week before the move)

  • Bring to the closing appointment a one year, paid in full homeowner’s policy, effective the day of closing. 
  • If your home is currently in a trust, you are going to need to transfer your new home back into the trust. This is critical.
